Last month, we launched our new weather station, in partnership with WGN, that reports our current Morris weather. In 2021, WGN meteorologists asked to place one of their Weather Bug devices (station and camera) here at MGS. They're now able to pull data and footage for their news reports. Our staff will also have access to move the camera and utilize the real time data for science lessons/projects. 🌟ADDED BONUS:🌟 Our school’s name will be mentioned on air whenever they use this camera! Student safety remains our priority at Morris Grade School. We want to continue to provide a safe learning environment and resources to help our parents, teachers, students, and staff be successful.
This year our school district will begin participating in a new statewide school safety program called Safe2Help Illinois. This program will offer students a safe and confidential way to share information that may help prevent suicides, bullying, school violence, and other threats to student safety. The intent is to encourage students to “seek help before harm,” with the goal of intervening and helping students before they harm themselves or others. The long-term goals of Safe2Help Illinois are to remove the stigma associated with mental health issues and promote a culture of kindness.
The Admin Team will be meeting with all 5th-8th grade students introducing them to the platform and showing them how to access it. The Safe2Help shortcut has also been added on all 5th-8th grade student devices.

Addison's essay will now advance to the VFW District Level competition. The essay contest encourages young minds to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society, by drafting a 300- to 400-word essay, expressing their views based on a patriotic theme chosen by the VFW Commander-in-Chief. The 2022-23 theme was: "My Pledge to Our Veterans." We are so very proud of you, Addison! ❤️🤍💙
