This spring, Track & Field school records have been falling all over Morris, and the Braves and Lady Braves have gotten in on the fun with two more of their own!
Last Saturday, Morris GS traveled to Pontiac for the Warrior Showdown, where two 200m Dash records were broken! Eli Musick bested an 8 year-old mark for the 7th Grade boys with a blistering 25.99 second run, and Aniston Caputo topped a 29 - count 'em - TWENTY-NINE year-old school record for the 8th Grade girls with a time of 27.78 seconds! Amazing work and congratulations to both of you!

After a year of reading, teamwork, and dedication, our 5th graders faced off in the final Battle of the Books Competition! Teams were formed at the beginning of the school year and have spent months diving into their stories, sharpening their memory, and preparing for this exciting challenge.

On Thursday evening, Morris GS Track & Field hosted their final home meet of the season against Coal City, Nettle Creek, and Lisbon. Both the Braves and Lady Braves earned personal bests in many events, but four of the Lady Braves put it all out on the track and bested a 13 year-old school record! Congratulations to Ayla Thanadabouth, Cora Passerman, Cyncere Rucker, and Aniston Caputo in setting a new benchmark for the 8th Grade Girls 4x100m Relay! Go Braves!!

Yeehaw...This week we held our Kindergarten Roundup. We had approximately 70 incoming kindergarten students and their families attend. The students were able to play and be screened while their parents/guardians learned all about Morris Grade School and Kindergarten. They also had an opportunity to meet with our staff; like the social workers, librarian, administrators, kindergarten teachers, school nurse, parent educator and cafeteria director. The Morris Hospital YMCA was also onsite with information on their programs. The event was a success and we are excited to welcome these little learners to Morris Grade School in August!

Spring has sprung out on the track for the Morris Braves! Last Saturday, a hefty amount of ribbons and medals were earned at the Illinois Valley Conference meet in Seneca, with tons of PRs and top finishes earned by some of Morris Grade School's best athletes!
