2020-2021 Registration Day Information for Students of Morris Grade School

Returning Student Registration

Online registration information/instructions were mailed home, please use that information to register your student(s) online.  For assistance with online registration contact the school at pshelp@morris54.org  Returning students DO NOT need to attend registration day to register, it can be completed in the convenience of your home!  If you would like to complete any financial waiver forms (lunch or fees), turn in any needed documents, or make payment (check/money order only) you can do this at registration day.  All student schedules* will be available in the Powerschool parent portal.  *Schedules can be viewed through the PowerSchool parent portal, but please be aware they are not final.  

New Student Registration 

All new families in the district will need to provide proof of residency. The following documents are required: a tax bill or lease, parent identification, and two forms of proper address such as a utility bill or credit card statement.  Families new to the district will also need to provide a copy of their child’s birth certificate.  The birth certificate must be from the county in which the child was born; hospital certificates cannot be accepted.   Transfer students will also need to provide an Illinois State Board of Education Student Transfer Form or an Out of State Waiver form.   

School Fees

School fees for the 2020-2021 school year can be paid online at ezschoolpay.com using debit or credit.  NO cash payments will be accepted this year.  Checks or money orders should be made payable to DISTRICT 54 and will be accepted at registration day.  Financial assistance is available to those who qualify.  Forms can be found online or at registration day.  A copy of your 2019 Federal tax return is needed to apply for financial assistance.

*Preschool For All Students do not pay fees.  Early Childhood Special Education Preschool students pay $125 registration fee.  

**P.E. Uniforms will be available for purchase online or during the first two weeks of school for $20 for the set.  

Uniforms purchased online will be distributed to the student during P.E. class.

Health Requirements

Preschool

Physical exam, lead screening, and a current immunization record on file at the school. **Returning preschool students will not need to provide new exams or residency.  

Kindergarten

Dental exam, vision exam, lead screening, and physical exam with a current immunization record on file at the school.

2nd

Dental Exam

6th

Dental exam and a physical exam with a current immunization record on file at the school.  Both the Tdap and the Meningitis vaccines are required for entrance into 6th grade.  

All forms mentioned can be picked up at school after August 3rd and will also be available at registration day. Your physician's office should have physical forms as well.  Please have health exams completed and turned in prior to the first day of school in the fall.  

Any student interested in participating in a school sport must have a current sports physical on file.  Students will not be able to try out for sports without an updated physical.   

Transportation

Bus transportation is provided for students living outside a 1 ½ mile radius of the school or in an approved hazardous area within 1 ½ miles.  Online transportation forms were provided with the online registration and can be completed on registration day.  Anyone registering for transportation services after August 5th will not be guaranteed bus service for the first two weeks of school.  The Morris Community Schools Transportation phone number is (815)-416-1745.  Bus drivers will begin contacting bus riders soon with bus information. 

District 54 provides a pay to ride service for families that live within the 1 ½ mile area and wish to receive transportation for their children.  Please contact the District office for more information about pay to ride services if needed.  

  

Other Registration Day Information 

  • Elementary school (grades K-5) class lists will NOT be available at registration day.  

  • Middle school student schedules* will be dispersed on the first day of school.
